How it works:
When you choose renewable electricity with Bullfrog Power, you begin offsetting your electricity use with green energy. Bullfrog makes sure that for every kWh of electricity you use, a kWh from a pollution-free, renewable source is put on the grid on your behalf.
Continuing to receive your regular electricity bill, you will also receive a separate bill from Bullfrog for the additional cost of bullfrogpowering your home or business with green electricity. Any location can be bullfrogpowered, even spaces that are owned, leased or shared. No special equipment is required.
The electricity grid as a sink
Think of the grid as a big sink that is being filled from two taps—one adds power from clean, renewable sources, such as wind and low-impact hydro. The other tap fills the sink using regular power sources, such as gas, oil, nuclear, coal and large hydro. Each time you use electricity, you drain a little water from the sink.
The dirty tap
Right now, a significant amount of the water going into the sink is from the tap connected to regular power sources.
The clean tap
But some of the water is coming from the other tap—connected to low-impact, renewable sources (represented by clean water in the picture).
Cleaning the sink
As the demand for electricity from renewable resources increases and clean energy infrastructure is built, more clean water goes into the sink—and less water from the dirty tap is needed.
Over time, as more and more people choose renewable sources, the water in the sink should start to get cleaner (and healthier for Canada!).

One more thing! When you sign up for renewable power through Bullfrog, we use your support to help fund new green energy projects all across Canada.
Green natural gas into the sink…err… pipeline
Similar to green electricity, when you choose green natural gas with Bullfrog Power, you begin offsetting your natural gas use with green energy. Bullfrog makes sure that for every unit of natural gas you use, a GJ or m3 of green natural gas from a climate-friendly source is put on the pipeline on your behalf. Drop by drop, you help displace gas from polluting sources on our pipeline.
Continuing to receive your regular natural gas bill, you will also receive a separate bill from Bullfrog for the additional cost of bullfrogpowering your home or business with green natural gas. Any location can be bullfrogpowered, even spaces that are owned, leased or shared. No special equipment is required.

What is green fuel?
Green fuel allows you to address your vehicle’s transportation-related emissions.
Our green fuel suppliers repurpose waste streams from food manufacturing and used cooking oils from restaurants — and turn that waste into biodiesel. We work with suppliers and distributors to ensure that biofuel is produced, blended into transportation fuel and distributed across the Canadian fuel system.
How it works:
When you sign up for green fuel, Bullfrog makes sure that for every litre of traditional fossil fuel your vehicle uses, a litre of green fuel is blended into the Canadian fuel system. Our distributors transport the green fuel to organizations that can use it, such as those with fleets of trucks, buses and other machines that can run on green fuel. The more green fuel we blend into the fuel system, the less reliant we are on petroleum-based products and the more we can reduce our impact on the environment.
Your vehicle is not using the green fuel directly, so there are no changes required to your vehicle and you fill up at the pump as usual. The green fuel is going into the Canadian fuel system on your behalf, helping to reduce the overall environmental footprint of transportation in Canada.
You will receive a monthly bill for your green fuel services accounting for the amount of fuel your vehicle uses. Any type of combustion-powered vehicle can be bullfrogpowered with green fuel.
What makes green fuel eco-friendly?
Green fuel is low-carbon, providing at least an 85% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions vs. conventional petroleum-based fuel. And, since it’s sourced from waste products that already exist, such as used cooking oils from restaurants, it avoids food vs. fuel conflicts. In other words, new crops don’t need to be grown in order to create this clean fuel source — instead, it’s made from waste products.
